The wine is richer, weightier, oakier and more complex than the regular label with bran biscuit, brioche and toasty characters adding complexity to stone fruit and citrus fruit flavours. Raymond Chan 5 stars. 19.5/20 Light straw in colour with a welcoming nose of lime essence, cashew cream and toasted pastry. Palate is long with a mineral core and ripe citrus and stone fruits. A light brush of phenolics inspires extended ageing potential. This is a complex wine with drive and power.
Duncan's Notes: Ths is our first release Chardonnay from our Morrison vineyard, a single vineyard wine from which we made all of 2 barrels, so 40 odd cases, from this the 2016 vintage. A subtle wine with delicate fruit flavours, some savoury complexity with a soft palate of pith like mineral texture ( a Morrison vineyard marker ), all underpinned by fine acidity. The grapes were whole bunch pressed directly to barrel and fermented naturally using the vineyard yeasts in older French oak. Matured for just under a year before being hand bottled under cork in April 2017 . Winemakers: Anna Riederer & Duncan Forsyth. 45 cases only.

Aroma: Cashew nut, peach and nougat like barrel influences. Palate: Fine acidity is balanced by a generous palate weight with a saline persistence. Winemaking Handpicked over six separate passes before gentle whole cluster pressing. Free run full solids juice only is fermented entirely in barrels with around 75% being natural fermentation. After 11 months on full lees the barrels are selected and blended prior to bottling. Food Pairing Pairs perfectly with seafood, pasta, poultry and creamy or garlic sauces. Veal fillet with white bean, pea, mushroom and broad bean ragout.

The wine ages in oak for a year, with lees stirring, resulting in classic Marlborough Chardonnay with tropical fruit and citrus flavours, full-bodied but finely balanced and complex. Hand harvested from our most mature vines and aged in barrel for 11 months. The result is a complex wine with toasty notes and fine acidity balanced by a generous palate weight.
