~Buy Six and Pay $36 per bottle net~ The Wine Front 91. "An attractive nose with plenty of citrus, mealy oak, stone and tropical fruit aromas. The palate is textural, precise and long. The lush ripe fruit is finely balanced by a crisp clean acidity giving the wine beautiful balance and good focus. A wine with rich minerality, excellent length and a mouthwatering sweet fruit finish that is slightly creamy. " Carrick Winemaker
Bob Campbell MW 95 points. Mendoza and clone 6 chardonnay from a premium vineyard site with extended barrel maturation (EBM) of 18 months. The wine is richer, weightier, oakier and more complex than the regular label with bran biscuit, brioche and toasty characters adding complexity to stone fruit and citrus fruit flavours. Quite a mouthful. BC April 2017. Winemaker's Notes: "Retaining the attractive fruit characteristics found in its Bannockburn sibling, the additional six months in neutral oak on light lees has increased the depth of the mouth feel found in the mid palate. This added texture, coupled with the fruit and restrained acidity,...
Winemaker’s comments: Closeburn is our un-oaked Chardonnay. The fruit is grown throughout the Central Otago region and exhibits the regions natural elegant fruit flavours and mineral complexity. The wine is fermented in tank to retain its bright fruit. It is then left to rest on its yeast lees to gain some doughy complexity and softness. This is a refreshing full-bodied wine, unencumbered by oak and superb with food. wine description: At first the wine displays an enticing bouquet of dried herbs and aromatic citrus fruit with a hint of the stony elements which follow in the mouth. The broad and lush white fleshed fruit in the entry is...
My curiously hazy notes went a little like this. "Not for the faint hearted. Big, expansive wine. Big oak reigned in seemlessly, big flavour profile and grand majestic finish. Thank #$g$$^ for sensational acid and stelvin. This wine is joyously youthful but also showing the benefits of time in the cellar. Buttery, briochey, almondy. Yellow peaches, orange peel and vanilla bean. Bloody marvelous..." RR4WEA May 2017
WA 92+, Wine Spectator 93 points. The 2014 Chardonnay reveals a pretty perfume of honey-drizzled white peaches, orange blossoms, marzipan and ginger with savory wafts of struck match (sulfides) and baking bread. Light to medium-bodied, taut and with a wicked backbone of racy acid, it gives a great intensity of citrus and savory flavors and great length. Lisa Perrotti-Brown - 28/12/2016.
Bob Campbell MW 96 points. WINERY NOTES: Initially toasty with wild herb, cream and buttery undertones. Ripe stone fruit flavours adds to the complexity. Full-bodied with a chalky phenolic finish. Finer citrus notes provide energy and flow to the lingering palate. REVIEWS & ACCOLADES 95 Points - Bob Campbell (Master of Wine) Quite a ripe, fleshy chardonnay with peach, stone fruit, wet stone, mineral, roasted nut and bran biscuit flavours. A smooth-textured wine with plenty of power and a lingering finish. Can be appreciated now but has development potential. 96 Points - Cameron Douglas (Master Sommelier) Complex, familiar and enticing...
Duncan's Notes: Ths is our first release Chardonnay from our Morrison vineyard, a single vineyard wine from which we made all of 2 barrels, so 40 odd cases, from this the 2016 vintage. A subtle wine with delicate fruit flavours, some savoury complexity with a soft palate of pith like mineral texture ( a Morrison vineyard marker ), all underpinned by fine acidity. The grapes were whole bunch pressed directly to barrel and fermented naturally using the vineyard yeasts in older French oak. Matured for just under a year before being hand bottled under cork in April 2017 . Winemakers: Anna Riederer & Duncan Forsyth. 45 cases only.
Awards Top 10 (No. 3) - Dish Magazine July 2016 Top 100 / Blue Gold Winner - Sydney International Wine Competition 2017 Raymond Chan 18.5/20 Chardonnay is hand-harvested from a selection of clones in our Marlborough vineyard, whole-bunch pressed and barrel fermented in French oak barrels. The wine ages in oak for a year, with lees stirring, resulting in classic Marlborough Chardonnay with tropical fruit and citrus flavours, full-bodied but finely balanced and complex. Hand harvested from our most mature vines and aged in barrel for 11 months. The result is a complex wine with toasty notes and fine acidity balanced by a generous palate weight.
Wine Orbit 93/100 An elegantly styled chardonnay, the delicately fragrant bouquet shows white nectarine and grapefruit characters with subtle vanilla and almond nuances. The palate is focused and linear, and exhibits excellent mid palate weight and fine texture, backed by beautifully pitched acidity. The wine is precise yet complex, and superbly persistent on the finish. Winery Notes: Chardonnay, of all wines, reflects both land and people. Just as the best chardonnays from Burgundy reflect their stony soils and history, the barrel aged Terra Sancta Estate Chardonnay reflects both its stony soils and Bannockburn’s wild side. Native yeasts...
