WA 92.

My favorite of the lineup was the 2009 Limoux Domaine de Baron’Arques and it offered beautiful notes of cassis, lead pencil, tobacco and spice in a medium to full-bodied, layered, upfront style. I don’t think it will be the longest lived effort, but it will certainly offer up tons of pleasure over the coming 4-5 years or so. The blend is 61% Merlot, 13% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Syrah and the rest Franc and Malbec, all of which was aged in 25% new barrels. JD Apr 2016.

Owned by the Rothschild family, Domaine de Baron’Arques is one of the leading estates in Limoux. They made a fabulous white based off Chardonnay and two reds: the entry level Limoux La Capitelle, and the top wine, the Domaine de Baron’Arques. Both cuvées appear to age gracefully, and the top cuvee can certainly keep for 15-20 years in a good vintage.
