"...Why Pay Retail...?"

There is a great urban legend that floats around the dealing rooms of Singapore about a certain banker who at annual bonus time, treated herself to a few nips and tucks and sent a snap of the final front-end bodywork to one of her mates to admire. I guess we will never know the full extent of the real details, but the rumor is that she BCC`ed everybody in her corporate address book - and she worked for a large global bank and was really, really well connected ...
I am sure that that email was met with more votes of approval than your average internal banking email about the next social soccer game, but it does go to prove the addage that too much technology is - well - just too much. I live in constant fear of drunken texting - having paid the price dearly more than a few times in my past. My partners are forever dodging late night texts from me ranting on about some overpriced wine that I have fallen over in some or other den of iniquity here in Singapore.
The first time I tasted Peccavi Chardonnay 2007, I was at a huge social Australian wine tasting, and had already done more than my fair share of tasting the 200 or so available - at which time a Chardonnay is the last thing that should work for me. It was so good that I started my usual texting about it - much to the dismay of my partners. Having gone through more than a few on-again off-again love affairs with Chardonnay, I was really not in the market for another run, but this wine really floated my boat.
It is a rare thing to hear that the biggest challenge of an Australian winery is to keep up with demand, but the reality with Peccavi is that all of its current release 2008 is fully allocated with no residual stock until the 2009 comes out in 2013. I suspect that it was more about shutting me up than anything else, but Jeremy has given us a small parcel of the 2006 and 2007 vintages from his personal collection to offer today, with anybody taking it up to obtain first right of refusal on the 2009 vintage when it finally makes it out of the winery next year. These wines are at the current commercial prices and are very well worth while.
