I was having a look at what I had to say about the 2006 vintage of this wine when we sold it last year. I was fairly scathing about actors deciding to leave their day jobs to polish their Oscar`s from their winery porches (nice work if you can get it), but in this instance it seems that Mr Neill has really got it right, with wine awards flowing in faster than you can say "Golden Globe Nominee" for both the premium Two Paddocks Pinot  as well as the secondary "Picnic" series.

We usually follow the principle of offering only what we have actually drunk, and are waiting for the 2008 vintage samples to reach us before offering the stock, but in correspondence with the winery, we have managed to secure a very small parcel of the now famous 2007 vintage from them.

As vintages go, if you were growing Pinot Noir in 2007 in Central Otago, you had to have done something drastically wrong not to have got a fantastic crop of juice, and Two Paddocks is no exception.

The main distinction which this wine has amongst the multitude of  good Pinots from the region in 2007, is that it is a heavy-weight contender in terms of body, mouth-feel and those sheer smelly barnyard floor "Burgundian" characteristics, which seems to drive the Pinot fanatics into a state of bliss.

2007 Two Paddocks Pinot Noir

The 2007 vintage is full-coloured, rich and supple, with finely balanced cherry, plum and spice flavours, well-integrated oak, and a long finish. Floral, savoury and refined, it’s already drinking well.
