James Halliday 95 points. 83% cabernet sauvignon, 12% malbec, 5% merlot. This is a delight - and a surprise. Instead of the usually slightly bony/hard mouthfeel of most of the Blue Pyrenees red wines, this is luscious and round, cassis, redcurrant and plum all intersecting, pliable tannins doing nothing to diminish the pleasure. Alcohol: 14.5%. Closure: screwcap. Tasted: Mar 2018. Drink By: 2030. Rating: 95/100. James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion. WA 92 "The inky/ruby/purple-hued 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon Brookman Vineyard exhibits classic aromas of cassis and graphite along with a well-balanced, rich, full-bodied, intense personality. One of the estate’s more forward, elegant offerings, it is best drunk during its first 12-15 years of life. RPJ Oct 2006.
WA 93 The 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon Brookman Vineyard is a fleshy effort with gobs of flavor. It, too, will be approachable young but should drink well through 2026. JM Oct 2009
WA 93+ The 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon Brookman offers up an expressive bouquet of pain grille, pencil lead, violets, black currant, and blackberry. Structured and dense on the palate, it has plenty of savory, ripe black fruit, excellent concentration, and 4-6 years of aging potential. JM Dec 2009.
WA 95+ The 2003 Cabernet Sauvignon Hickinbotham Vineyard is the most backward and Pauillac-like of this trio. Its inky/purple color is followed by gorgeous aromas of cedar, black currant liqueur, flowers, licorice, and a notion of new oak in the background. This full-throttle, powerful, concentrated, well-delineated Cabernet Sauvignon should be at its finest between 2010-2025. RPJ Oct 2005.
WA 92+ The 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon Hickinbotham offers the most saturated color. The aromatics feature Asian spices, violets, and incense along with expressive black fruits. Structured and tannic, bordering on austere on the palate, it is a muscular, brawny effort that will require 6-8 years of cellaring to become approachable. JM Dec 2009.
WA 92 The 2008 Hickinbotham Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon has a very deep garnet-purple color and intense notes of black currant juice, Provence herbs, kirsch, chocolate, espresso, pencil shavings and iron ore. Full-bodied, very crisp and rich with a high level of fine tannins, it has a long coffee laced finish. Drink it 2012 to 2018. LPB Dec 2010.
WA 96. The 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon Hickinbotham Vineyard is the most muscular and densely packed of the Cabernets. This opulent effort will evolve for a minimum of a decade and drink well through 2036. JM Feb 2009.
WA 93 The 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon Sandown Vineyard is sourced from 75-year-old vines. Opaque purple-colored, it is super-fragrant with an enticing bouquet of smoky oak, scorched earth, tar, black currant, and blackberry. Opulent on the palate, it has gobs of fruit as well as enough structure to evolve for a decade. It should have a 25 year lifespan and a lengthy drinking window.JM Oct 2007.
WA 92 The 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon Sandown Vineyard is a more structured wine that will profit from 6-8 years of additional cellaring. Its drinking window will extend from 2015 to 2031. JM Oct 2009.
WA 93 The 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon Sandown is similarly styled. Spicy black fruit aromas mingle with mineral and floral notes leading to a medium to full-bodied wine packed with flavor. It will require 4-6 years to fully unwind but the balance is there for a graceful evolution. JM Dec 2009.
WA 92 The 2008 Sandown Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon gives a deep garnet-purple color and pronounced notes of black currant cordial, chocolate, marmite, loam, black truffle, soy and black olive plus a whiff of lavender. Full-bodied with a high level of fine grained tannins and high acidity, the fruit and earth components are well intertwined on the palate, finishing long. Give it another year in bottle and drink it to 2017. LPB Dec 2010.
Wine Advocate 94 points. The spicy 2003 The Coppermine Road Cabernet Sauvignon (aged in equal parts new French and new American oak) reveals copious quantities of black currants, cedar, vanilla, and white chocolate aromas, followed by spicy, tannic, full-bodied, powerful, dense, well-structured flavors. It should drink well for 10-15+ years. RPJ Oct 2005.

Has complex, meaty characters merging with the vibrant blackcurrant fruit. Cellar: 15 years.” RJ.
n 1865 Thomas Hardy had the foresight to begin blending grapes from different regions, believing that the blending would enhance the different qualities of the grapes. His vision proved to be right and it has since become the inspiration for the Heritage Reserve Bin (HRB) range. in D670. Hardys has been making regional blends since 1865, so this simply follows Thomas Hardy's prescription. He, however, couldn't go to Coonawarra or the Frankland River, these two regions blended with McLaren Vale 150 years after the edict. The colour is deep but vibrant purple-crimson, and the full-bodied palate has the black-fruited power of a weightlifter and...
WINERY NOTES: Our Killerman’s Run Cabernet Sauvignon has been crafted through careful fruit selection, traditional winemaking techniques, sixteen months maturation in new and seasoned French oak hogsheads and bottling unfiltered to fully enhance the wines character and appeal. A cooler than expected vintage caught many by surprise, the lower evening temperatures punctuated by a number of lighter rainfall events that slowed down the ripening process and allowed the harvest to run well into April. Clare always looks its best in the cooler seasons and these conditions have been very favourable in creating wines of great definition, character...
James Halliday 96 This hits the bullseye, a great example of the synergy between place and variety. Its colour is good, as it the bouquet, and that arrow arrives the moment the wine enters the mouth. It has waves of luscious, juicy red and black fruits that fill every corner of the palate, tannins and oak doing the job expected of them. Drink to: 2024;Alcohol: 14.5%; Rating: 96 Points & Special Value Star; James Halliday; Wine Companion.
These vines originally supplied Wynns John Riddoch Cabernet. "Made to commemorate 25 years of winemaking (first vines planted '68; first wines under own name '71). It's matured in all-French oak for 20 months. 200 dozen produced. GPL refers to George Patrick Lynn, patriarch of the Lynn family, who passed away (at 50) in '76. It's a hulking cabernet, as tannic as it is intense, with blackcurrant and boysenberry flavours charging into dusty, tobacco-strewn tannin. Creamy oak plays a clear role, as do eucalypt flavours, but this wine's power, glory and ageworthiness cannot be disputed." JH Aug 2018 Drink to 2035 Stelvin In 1968 George Patrick...

James Halliday 95 points. Located Fleurieu Peninsula South Australia. Hand-picked, destemmed, crushed, open-fermented, wild yeast, matured for 18 months in French oak (20% new). An interesting wine, the key to its individuality its 5-week maceration in skins, then being pressed direct to barrel. It finally comes out of oak and into bottle, bringing with it a fine stream of juicy dark fruits and fine-grained tannins. Drink to: 2043. James Halliday 95 points. 85% cabernet sauvignon, 5% each of malbec, cabernet franc and merlot. Good hue; this is pure cassis, not blackcurrant per se. WA 95. The 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon Coach House Block Roennfeldt Road offers up fragrant notes of pain grille, pencil lead, tar, black currant, and blackberry. Full-bodied and voluptuous on the palate, this glossy effort conceals enough ripe tannin to evolve for another 5-7 years. It should be at its best from 2015 to 2030. JM Feb 2009.
WA 91. For an inky hued New World wine, there's an awful lot of classic to the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Sexy Beast. Start with the nose of pencil shavings and cassis. Add a streamlined, medium to full-bodied palate that shows genuine Cabernet structure—firm acids and crisp edges. Yes, it's bold, flavorful and approachable young, but it also fits into Cabernet's varietal tradition. JC Mar 2018. McLaren Vale fruit.
James Halliday 95 points and Special Value Star. Dark red. Aromas of blueberry and liquorice. Intense dark fruit flavours of blueberry and currants on the palate with liquorice and dark chocolate. Firm tannins on a long finish. Char grilled rib eye with root vegetables and seasonal greens. The 2015 Vintage had dryer than average winter conditions resulting in a less vigorous spring and subsequent reduced yields across all varieties, this was followed with mild days and cool nights which resulted in a near perfect slow ripening pattern for both red and white grape varieties with fantastic natural acid retention, concentrated colour, intense...
