n 1865 Thomas Hardy had the foresight to begin blending grapes from different regions, believing that the blending would enhance the different qualities of the grapes. His vision proved to be right and it has since become the inspiration for the Heritage Reserve Bin (HRB) range.

in D670. Hardys has been making regional blends since 1865, so this simply follows Thomas Hardy's prescription. He, however, couldn't go to Coonawarra or the Frankland River, these two regions blended with McLaren Vale 150 years after the edict. The colour is deep but vibrant purple-crimson, and the full-bodied palate has the black-fruited power of a weightlifter and the balance of a high wire walker. It is one of those wines with a 100-year life stamped on it.
