One of the unmistakable trends evident if one takes a stroll around most Australian retail stores at the moment, is the increased prevalence of Malbec as a single varietal bottling. Malbec has been around virtually since the beginning of wine in Australia, but were for the most part used as bordeaux blend components.

Be it climate change or consumer taste thats driving it - the trend is here and now its time to take score. We have 10 different Malbecs with one from Argentina as benchmark. They are all from recent vintages and are either in the Singapore market in the $40 to $50 bracket, or would be if they were imported into Singapore.

We will be tasting them blind, picking the Argentinian and then voting for what we like the most.

Two are already available from us, which will add another interesting string to the bow of the tasting. There are 7 different Australian wine regions involved.

There won't be winners or losers, except for our palates as we get in on the ground floor of another fascinating trend in these young but ground-breaking Australian wines.
