Silken-textured wine with just a hint of sweetness balanced by gentle acidity. An attractive wine made with a light touch 14 FEB 2018 BC 93 WINERY TASTING NOTES: A textural and saturating persistent Pinot Gris that has classic varietal characters of white flesh pear with nuances of shortbread and spice from the barrel ferments. Grape variety is Glera (100%). This Bepin d' Eto Prosecco Superiore has a light straw colour. At first on the nose freshly baked bread followed by fruit such as peach, apples and pears with a refined impression of rose petals. In the mouth, the wine has a fresh and sharp but smooth acidity. Slightly sweet despite its denotation of Extra Dry - the Italians beat to their own drum.
Pale straw yellow color with greenish reflections, impeccable in the clarity enriched by a minute and incessant perlage very bright. The olfactory stage is composed of tones of exotic fruit, acacia, wild flowers, citrus fruits and suffused trace of minerality, flint, Mediterranean bunch. At the sip it shows a remarkable personality, which makes use of a perfect balance and an important flavour. The mineral finish is long and fresh, trademarks for the Rive region. Steely and dry. Conegliano lies in the Valdobiaddene region of Veneto from which the very best of prosecco is sourced.. In terms of prestige in the hierarchy of prosecco it sits 2 rungs below the sebregion of Cartizze. There are many other cheaper versions available in the market but for the few dollars more that the good stuff demands in price, there really is no point in skimping.
We have been looking for a good example of this style for a long time and we think we have it nailed with this one. Too often you will find sparkling moscato expressed as overly sweet, cloying and boring. This beauty however has a great acid backbone that lifts the fruit, tames the sweetness in the middle palate and delivers a long and deliciously sweet finish with no hint of cloying. Delightful as an aperatif, served ice cold.
Morgante only deal with two elements....magnificent olive oil and the best Nero d'Avola grapes on planet Earth. Enigmatic, eccentric and unexpected… Bianco di Morgante is a white wine vinified from red grapes. The colour is soft golden yellow with greenish hues, the tannic texture is typical of a red wine with balanced acidity, a fruity trail and lingering finish. Bianco di Morgante pairs well with risottos, shellfish and fish dishes. Ideal served chilled.

This is an artisinal wine of extraordinary purity. and finesse. 94 Points “Oak fermented and matured sauvignon blanc that's as much about texture as it is about grapefruit, guava, struck flint, mineral and passionfruit flavours. Bob Campbell MW 93 points. “Meta’ means transformation, in this case by botrytis influence. It’s a rich and flavoursome wine with peach, honey, grapefruit marmalade and musk flavours. Initial sweetness contrasts with subtle steely acidity on the lengthy finish.” Bob Campbell MW, The Real Review. 5/2/2019 WINERY NOTE: We chose the name ‘Meta’ for our botrytised, late harvested Riesling, as it embodies the remarkable change of condition the grapes undergo as they are transformed by noble rot over the final weeks of Autumn. From healthy fruit into shrivelled but concentrated, intensely sweet berries; once harvested these have the...
Bob Campbell MW 95 points. Best Buy under $30, Gourmet Traveller. Top Minor Varietal White, Taste Magazine. A wine of wonderful, pure aromatics this Gruner exemplifies classic notes of mandarin and ripe peach with an underlying trace of white pepper. The oak featuring in the wine is only obvious if you are told about it – it is there to provide richness and weight to the mid-palate, which is why we chose large French oak puncheons to do the job. A model vintage in Marlborough provided warm sunny days and cool nights which enabled all-important retention of acidity and ripeness of fruit. The result is a well-structured, luscious rendition...
Bob Campbell MW 93 points. Single vineyard Awatere Valley. “From the Blind River vineyard in the Awatere Valley. A powerful riesling with lime, lemon zest and subtle mineral flavours. Low pH and assertive acidity balances around 23g/l of residual sugar and builds a lovely tension to give a medium-dry finish. An impressive wine that will develop well.” 16/7/2018 93 Points. BC.
Bob Campbell 95 points (equal top rating for Sauvignon Blanc) This single vineyard rendition of Sauvignon Blanc is sourced from the Holdaway Family vineyard at Dillons Point – our favourite sub region for the variety. It is a classic expression of Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc, being 100% tank fermented, but it offers complexity of texture and a mineral drive that summons river stones and sea spray. Blackcurrant, guava and passionfruit are captured alongside the subtlest hint of oyster-shell. This wine is focused and explosive on both nose and palate yet remains elegantly balanced and distinctly salty.
Bibenda 4 stars The Campaner Gewurztraminer of the Kellerei Kaltern winery is an excellent white wine made by late harvested grapes. Magnificent intense straw yellow coloured with golden reflections, it has an intense and complex bouquet, with pleasant hints of tropical fruit, aromatic herbs, sage and light oriental spices. The drink is very pleasant, thanks to its freshness and persistence. It is great to enjoy with preparations based on raw fish, crustaceans or fish first courses. TASTING NOTES – light, golden yellow – intense nose, rose blossoms, lychee, cloves, cinnamon, a hint of sage, complex and multi-faceted – dense volume on...
Wine Advocate 92 points. The 2017 Alto Adige Chardonnay Saleit is a fresh and tonic white wine that is ripe with fruity primary aromas. Preserved lemon, passion fruit and garden-fresh basil all play leading aromatic roles. The wine is textured and rich in terms of mouthfeel, not too much, but just enough to pair with seafood risotto or baked halibut. I love the zesty personality and immediate accessibility of this super refreshing Chardonnay. Bottle production is 40,000 units strong. ML Sept 2018.
Wine Advocate 90+. This is a zesty and lively wine to pair with mango and raw shrimp ceviche. The 2017 Alto Adige Sauvignon Stern is a fresh and streamlined white wine with balanced acidity that cleans and revives the palate. The bouquet is beautifully redolent of passion fruit, sweet peach, Thai basil and preserved lemon. You get good value here, and the wine is reasonably accessible with 65,000 bottles produced. Winemaking is straightforward, and only 20% of the wine sees oak, with the rest of the mass aged briefly in stainless steel. ML Sept 2018.

Arneis is a white wine grape variety from Italy's Piedmont wine region. In a story shared by several renascent grape varieties (most obviously Viognier), Arneis has been rescued from the verge of extinction and is now enjoying something of a revival. By the 1960s, just a few hectares of Arneis vines remained, and only a handful of producers were making the wine. There are now more than 1500 acres (605ha) of Arneis vines in Piedmont, and small quantities are also grown in California, Australia and New Zealand. This wine is a crisp, fresh and vibrant example of arneis. The nose is all about fresh cut white flowers with a hint of citrus....
Bob Campbell MW 92 points. "Soft, fruit-focused chardonnay with pear, apple, nutty lees and very subtle chalky mineral flavours. An appealing wine with lovely purity. A low key chardonnay in a delicately tangy style." Winemaker’s comments: Closeburn is our un-oaked Chardonnay. The fruit is grown throughout the Central Otago region and exhibits the regions natural elegant fruit flavours and mineral complexity. The wine is fermented in tank to retain its bright fruit. It is then left to rest on its yeast lees to gain some doughy complexity and softness. This is a refreshing full-bodied wine, unencumbered by oak and superb with food. wine...

James Halliday 95 points. "Mainly from Block 2 (planted '75), plus a smaller amount from younger estate blocks. Picked and sorted by hand, mostly whole-bunch pressed, a small portion crushed and destemmed before pressing. This is very good, with riesling flaunting its varietal wares. Block 1 needs at least a decade to release its treasures, but here they're ready to start now."
