Raymond Chan Wine Reviews. “Bright, very pale straw-yellow colour, very light edged. The nose is very elegant in proportion with fresh aromas of passionfruit with soft notes of fresh herbs, snow peas and cut grass. Dry to taste, the palate has a vibrant and zesty heart of passionfruit, cut grass and fresh herb flavours. The mouthfeel is refreshing and bright with fresh acidity and a core that flows along a fine-textured line. This has good linearity, and the wine carries to a lingering finish of passionfruit, herbs and grass. This is a lively and bright passionfruit, herb and cut-grass flavoured Sauvignon Blanc with fine textures and good...
Kaapzicht’s 2018 Chenin Blanc displays ripe quince, pineapple and stone fruit with some interesting savoury undertones. A lightly textured palate, with a hint of sweetness and balancing crunchy acid, results in a brisk finish. A delightful, delicate and refreshing old bush vine Stellenbosch Chenin Blanc with some of the grapes coming from a vineyard planted in 1947 (the second oldest Chenin Blanc in the country). A juicy poolside sipper or fantastic partner to al fresco meals, this wine offers outstanding value for money.
James Halliday 95 points. Like all Kilikanoon's Rieslings, no frills to the vinification, just attention to detail. Incongruously, it is a blend of three vineyards. The bouquet owes as much to minerally notes as to citrus fruit, and the palate duly brings structure and length for the lemon/lime flavours and firm finish. JH. WINERY NOTES: Winemaking Made as a blend of three higher altitude Watervale sites, all fruit was hand picked and sorted with only free run juice used for the final cuvee. Appearance Pale straw in appearance with brilliant clarity and youthful green tints. Nose Lifted floral notes and intense citrus flavours are a...

Winefront 93 points. Reflecting the mixed planting of old vines, a complex and intriguing aromatic mix of atypical muscat aromas with white peach and nectarine, honeydew, lemon sorbet and grapefruit pith. A firm palate of ruby grapefruit astringency combined with nervy acidity, homemade lemonade sweet and sour balance give a truly eclectic, unconventional white wine.
95 Points 1940s vines. Textural, powerful, persistent. Lime juice and crystals, talc and spice, mineral. A hint of orange blossom. A trace of fruit sweetness. It’s pretty and it’s purposeful and it feels soft as it extends along your tongue. A treat of a wine. Halliday Wine Companion.
Notes from Duncan: This Gruner Veltliner is medium weight in a dry style. Floral, white pepper, and pip-fruit aromas on the nose , similar fruit flavours including spice and pears come through on the palate, all underpinned by mineral characters and refreshing acidity. We aim to produce wines of purity, precision and balance with a clear resonance of flavour. The wine is drinking extremely well now but can be cellared with confidence for two to four years. Tim Aitken 92 points. Tasting notes Lots of buttered toast / brioche on the nose with some citrus aspects too. Tangerine fruit and citrus blossom fragrances are apparent, with hints of vanilla pod and almond flakes. These characteristics follow through onto the palate. The fine, fresh acidity is natural, and adds poise and focus to the wine.

2016 True Colours Chardonnay stone fruit| citrus | mineral | spice Vintage Notes “Vintage 2016 will be long remembered as the most compact growing season in living memory. A warm spring was followed by a warmer than average Summer but luckily we were spared from suffering through too many extreme over-40 degree spikes during the ripening period. The effect of this weather forced an acceleration of ripening but also a retention of fresh acidity due to the cool nights. It’s not surprising then to see ripe, generous characters on the 2016 wines”. Mark Nikolich - Senior Winemaker
James Halliday 92 points. Wine Notes Colour pale straw with green hues Aroma passionfruit, lychees + citrus fruits Palate tropical notes, crisp + fresh Cellar up to 4 years .

It has a balanced taste, well-supported by its acidity and mineral component that give it sapidity and persistence. A versatile white, suitable for grilled fish, shellfish and white meats.
2016 Pinot Gris Rockburn Pinot Gris features ripe peach, nectarine and Nashi pear aromas, heralding a vibrantly fruity off-dry palate. This combined with a very long, zesty finish complements rich or light seafood meals or most Asian-spiced cuisine, though its extraordinary versatility should be experienced over a wide range of dishes. This wine is drinking very well now and is expected to mellow over the next 3-4 years. Drink by 2024.
James Halliday 93 points. "Stone fruit notes wash over a creamy core of nougatine, toasted cashew and high quality vanilla pod oak. Some ambient yeast effects, too, akin to earth and truffles. This mid-weighted chardonnay manages to be both rich of flavour, compelling of texture and poised on the side of freshness and pointed length. Not a step out of place." Ned Goodwin Published 01 August 2019 COLOUR Brilliant straw NOSE Lifted bouquet of nectarines and stone fruits with an underlay of toasty spice. PALATE Barrel ferment characters add complexity while flavours of citrus and cashew swirl around the palate to give a long flavoursome finish....
James Halliday 93 points. "A fine free-flowing riesling oozing orange blossom, lime cordial, lemon drop, quince and apricot pith. No hard edges from overly zealous tweaking in the winery, either. One common feature of all forms is most obviously their refreshing acidity and attractive aromas of peach, lemon peel, dried herbs and a whiff of saline minerality. Serve ice cold.
A blend of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay & Pinot Meunier. Pours with a good frothy white mousse that dissipates relatively quickly to reveal a very pale straw base wine colour. Clean crisp finish. Aftertaste of citrus, yeast lees and toast. Drink over the next 2-3 years.
The Seppelt Salinger story began in 1890, when owner Hans Irvine employed French Champagne winemaker Charles Pierlot to craft Australia’s first traditional method sparkling wines. A colourful character, Pierlot learnt the art of Champagne making at the houses of Pommery & Greno and Moet & Chandon. Together, Irvine and Pierlot developed an award-winning wine business and are widely regarded as the pioneers of sparkling wine in Australia. Since the release of the 1983 vintage in 1986, Seppelt’s finest sparkling white wine has borne the name of Pierlot’s wife, Ellena Salinger. It is made using the traditional sparkling varieties of Pinot...

Classic textbook pinot grigio at its best. Pinot Grigio is more than just the Italian name for Pinot Gris. Although the two names refer to a single grape variety, the wine styles they represent are clearly distinct from one another. The difference between Pinot Grigio wines and Pinot Gris wines is so clear and well-established that the two are often treated as if they were two distinct varieties. The refreshing Pinot Grigio style has enjoyed great success in various countries, most recently the United States, (where it is fondly nicknamed "Greej") and Australia. The most common descriptors of the style are "light", "crisp" and "dry". These...

Excellent bone dry prosecco that ticks all the boxes. Pure fruit, excellent persistent bead, crisp acidity and clean, dry finish. DOCG quality through and through. Conegliano lies in the Valdobiaddene region of Veneto from which the very best of prosecco is sourced.. In terms of prestige in the hierarchy of prosecco it sits 2 rungs below the subregion of Cartizze (see Villa Sandi for our version). There are many other cheaper versions available in the market but for the few dollars more that the good stuff demands in price, there really is no point in skimping.
