Variety: 85% Glera – 15% Chardonnay Residual sugar: 3 g/l Alcohol: 11% Sizes: 0.75 L/ 1.5 L/3 L This wine comes from a single vineyard at Gorgo al Monticano, on the historic estate of the Dal Bianco family, where business began in 1946. A dry wine with a clear, lingering finish whose amazing elegance reveals an intriguing structure. It is made of grapes selected on the vine and in the winery, white vinified by the gravity method.

Region: TUMBARUMBA. Harvested from grapes grown around 480 meters these cool-climate wines in the McW 480 Estate range are filled with freshness and vibrancy. Enjoy vibrant flavours from great heights. The McW 480 Pinot Grigio is floral and aromatic with lifted spice and delicate rose petal aromas. A light to medium bodied wine with spicy nashi pear and crisp gala apple flavours. The palate is aromatic, crisp and long with a lingering spiciness and clean refreshing finish.

A wine with delicate fruit flavours, some savoury complexity, nuttiness & vanilla, with a soft palate of pith like mineral texture, all underpinned by fine acidity. Chenin Blanc is a variety that is all about texture and acidity. A delicious off dry style from a cooler vintage for Central Otago. Whole bunch pressed, fermentation in a mixture stainless steel barrels and tanks, wild yeasts, no temperature control and aged on gross less for 3 months. RS 10g/l Floral and citrus aromas, flavours of kaffir limes and grapefruit, some initial sweetness underpinned by herbal mineral characters and ending dry with refreshing acidity. 12 % alc, medium weight in an off dry style. The fruit is crushed to the press, settled and racked to tank for a cold ferment and lees ageing. Scented white flowers and lemony freshness with a cleansing palate. The fruit has good integrity, and the mid-palate has pleasing texture and breadth, plus soft, rounded edges. It is a harmonious, balanced drink with a beautiful limey core. Jeni Port 96 points. A natural cool beauty, Watervale combines stunning aromatics – apple blossom, white flowers – with lingering aromas of Tahitian lime, lemon, grapefruit. Citrus and talc florals work hand in hand here. Soft, textural acidity offers a solid foundation for the brisk lemony brightness and lime cordial intensity of the fruit. Tight, coiled and pristinely focused with pure lemon, crunchy green apple, grapefruit and lemon fruit notes and hints of crushed stone, fennel, flint, orange blossom, lemongrass and crisp pear. There are some light mountain herb tones on the palate, which shows superb tension and a minerally velocity that is quite something, finishing riverstone-dry and thirst-slakingly refreshing. James Halliday Wine Companion 96 points. Cane-cut Coal River riesling weighing in at around 136g/L RS. Straw in the glass with characters of apple, lime, peach, candied citrus rind, clover and orange blossom, apple pie, crushed riverstone and crème brûlée. Once again that beautiful acidity struts its stuff, drawing all the rich flavours into relief and applying tension and velocity in the process, finishing long and unctuous. Superb. 96 points. Weighing in at 9.2% alcohol, this is what the Germans would refer to as a 'breakfast wine', a term that I love. The RS69 here denotes 69g RS in the wine, so think medium sweet. It's peachy with lemon drop, grapefruit zest, white flowers, crushed stone and a suggestion of spearmint and fennel further back. It's delicious. I love the 'R' designations on the Pressing Matters rieslings. From R0 for bone-dry to R139 for sweet, they are an indication of the RS in the wine. The R9, in theory, should teeter on that fulcrum between dry and off-dry, but that crystalline Tasmanian acidity tempers any sweetness and it appears dry. And totally delicious, with crisp green apple, citrus, stone, orange blossom, fennel and wildflower notes. Pristine, with velocity to burn. 94 points. Dave Brookes Published 07 August 2024   #FOGG

R9 = 9g/L of RS, so this is a (very delicious) wine that walks the line between dry and off-dry. Light straw with a flash of green and aromas of freshly squeezed lime, lemon and green apple sorbet along with citrus blossom, stone and clover. Wonderful focus and tension, just a suggestion of phenolic texture and that wicked Tasmanian mineral line that gets the saliva going. So good. 95 points. Dave Brookes, May 2025.

Trophy, best white wine of Rioja , 2023.  Gold Medal, IWSC Berlin . Gold Medal, Lyon International Wine Competition. Bright yellow colour with greenish tones. Sophisticated and powerful on the nose, combining tropical and citrusfruits aromas. Complemented with white fruit and flowers hints. On the palate fresh, complex, unctuous, well balanced, with a long and pleasant aftertaste. Serve ice cold.

Tasmania just keeps on punching out excellent and curiously different wines. Here is another. COLOUR Cloudy. A vibrant lemon colour with a hint of tropical gold. AROMA This is an exuberant, cloudy and lightly sparkling wine with aromas that leap out of the glass to delight the senses. Think bright passionfruit, rich lime peel and pea shoots alongside elegant nashi pear. PALATE The first sip of this wine brings concentrated passionfruit pulp and a moreish hit of ginger spice and kaffir lime. VITICULTURE Sourced from two of the few Roussanne vineyards in South Africa, 40% from our vineyards on the home farm and 60% from our neighbour, this is planted in the Voor Paardeberg on well-weathered Perdeberg decompsed Granite soils. Trellised and spur pruned, this vineyard produced 4.2 tons per hectare in 2022. VINIFICATION Hand harvested, chilled overnight and whole-bunch pressed to avoid phenolics typical of this variety. Juice with a high solids content fermented in seasoned 300-litre Allier hogsheads and about 25% fermented in terracotta clay amphora, with partial malolactic fermentation. VITICULTURE The Viognier is grown on a single vineyard, South Westerly slope about 6 km from False Bay which enjoys cool maritime on shore breezes from the Atlantic. The soils are granite-clay loams which restrict yield and allow for retention of acidity and varietal aroma. VINIFICATION The cooled grapes were crushed and pressed and the free-run Viognier juice settled overnight before being run into seasoned French Allier and Compiègne oak white wine barrels. Excellent bone dry prosecco that ticks all the boxes. Pure fruit, excellent persistent bead, crisp acidity and clean, dry finish. DOCG quality through and through. Conegliano lies in the Valdobiaddene region of Veneto from which the very best of prosecco is sourced.. In terms of prestige in the hierarchy of prosecco it sits 2 rungs below the subregion of Cartizze (see Villa Sandi for our version).There are many other cheaper versions available in the market but for the few dollars more that the good stuff demands in price, there really is no point in skimping.
