Theres little doubt that the evolution of Australian Grenache - and especially McLaren Vale has been a sensation trajectory to watch. Styles have differeed over the last decade but its seems that they are becoming far more geographically aligned than before - making this blind online tasting event so interesting.
Whilst most hail from McLaren Vale, there are a few interlopers to add colour and depth to the exercise. We will be inviting the winemakers to join, but either way it will be a bit of a geek-fest as I will present the usual clonal, climate and vintage variances as we "work" through the various examples.
We will very informally vote for our favourites of the night. All wines will be available for discounted purchase on the night.
We will decant and pour the wines (125ml each), seal under argon gas and have available for your collection from noon on Friday 15 May. You can elect to have delivery that day for $15 if you wish. The argon will assure premium drinking quality for up to three weeks, so if you are unfairly distracted by travel or less important tasks, you are free to taste at your leisure along with the taped recording of the tasting which will be sent to all participants afterwards.
