Wine Front 93 points. "From a vineyard in Krondorf. 80 year old vines with 8% Mataro. Juicy, purple, ripe raspberry, brown spices. Gummy feel, saucy and spicy, tannin has some grit, and finish is jubey and fairly long. Feels a little different from the usual offerings from Head, in terms of Grenache, though that’s perhaps a function of the vintage." - Gary Walsh, Wine Front. Grenache sourced from vines in the Krondorf subregion with an average age of 80 years old. Red and dark plum fruits flow forth here, with plenty of spice backing, a light sheath of red floral notes and a waft of ginger cake. There is abundant, pithy tannin this year, drawing the fruit into line. The acidity propels the wine across the palate nicely. Savoury and toothsome but not without grace. 92 points.
