This new release of our Amber wine is a blend of Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc selected from our certified Biodynamic vineyard. The wine was left on the skins and fermented partially before being pressed off. SOLD OUT AT WINERY #CULLEN
Halliday Winemaker of the Year 2021. Magnolia 1941 Semillon (100%) 641 bottles produced. No Fining, No Filtration. NOTE FROM WINEMAKER BRETT GROCKE: The Magnolia 1941 Semillon is an attempt to make the best possible Semillon of the vineyard and greater region. It is wholly from the 1941 block and is from the two best barrels of the 2019 vintage. For too many years I’ve watched too many old vine Semillon vineyards here in the Barossa be ripped out, often for the more lucrative Shiraz. I firmly believe that Semillon has a strong place in the Barossa and sits within the Barossa DNA along with Shiraz, Grenache, Mataro and the like. Hopefully...
colour Brilliant pale straw with a fresh light green tint. aroma Ripe aromas of tinned pear, lychee, ripe gala apple with a touch of paw paw and mango tropical fruits. Time on fresh yeast lees and a touch of barrel fermentation has added subtle aromas of fresh yeast and white bread. palate A long, richly flavoured palate with tinned pear, lychee and ripe gala apple coming through on the palate. These flavours continue through to a long, dry, refreshing finish. When chilled, the palate really comes into its own and provides a unique wine experience.
Certified organic and biodynamic, low preservativea, Vegan friendly Sah-vah-YAHN: a delightful and zesty white wine, fresh and fragrant of white flowers and lemongrass. Ripe tropical fruit aromas of guava and kiwifruit with citrus freshness. Wonderful natural acid crispness and lemon and lime flavours. This dry white is textural, moreish and delicious.
Winefront 93 points. Reflecting the mixed planting of old vines, a complex and intriguing aromatic mix of atypical muscat aromas with white peach and nectarine, honeydew, lemon sorbet and grapefruit pith. A firm palate of ruby grapefruit astringency combined with nervy acidity, homemade lemonade sweet and sour balance give a truly eclectic, unconventional white wine.
Region: TUMBARUMBA. Harvested from grapes grown around 480 meters these cool-climate wines in the McW 480 Estate range are filled with freshness and vibrancy. Enjoy vibrant flavours from great heights. The McW 480 Pinot Grigio is floral and aromatic with lifted spice and delicate rose petal aromas. A light to medium bodied wine with spicy nashi pear and crisp gala apple flavours. The palate is aromatic, crisp and long with a lingering spiciness and clean refreshing finish.
"Manages to handle its alcohol with relative ease, a tribute to the oldest Lovedale vines. Lemongrass, pear and citrus easily take care of the acidity and the alcohol. It's balance guarantees future gold medals and other plaudits." Wine Companion The late Maurice O'Shea planted the Lovedale vineyard in 1946 with incredible foresight, recognising that the unique structure of the land and the surrounding environment would deliver the tightness and acidity for world-class Semillon. This wine provides exceptional drinking now or can be carefully cellared up to fifteen years or more from vintage. Beautifully balanced palate with perfect acidity...
"A very different proposition to Eight Acres, with a more lacy and immediately accessible structure, even a hint of tropical fruit, before unsweetened lemon and mineral sashays across the long palate." JH 94 TASTEMP
WINERY NOTE: What started as a mishap has become our signature style. Years ago, our Pinot Gris spent some unplanned time on skins, resulting in a beautiful colour, and a richer texture. We still follow this technique (with a little more precision!) today, making our iconic blush Pinot Gris. A sure favourite, this wine suits all palates and is great with or without food. WINE NOTES Colour: pale salmon tinge naturally derived from Pinot Gris skins Aroma: red and yellow apple, nashi pear, orange blossom Palate: lemon and orange citrus, red apple, white florals Cellar: up to 3 years.
Wine Front 93 points. “Barossa blend of Marsanne and Roussanne. Snuffed candle and the wax, honeysuckle, stonefruit, tangerine and spice. Here be flavour with crunch and texture, cool tang to the acidity with flint through wax and saltine cracker complexity. Layers of flavour, plenty of length, and all round good drinking to be had. Good fruit, sure, but inspired winemaking too.” Gary Walsh. A layered & thought-provoking blend inspired by the Rhône Valley. The underlying rich medley of fresh & roasted stone fruit is laced with toast and spice, with a crisp zesty hit of ginger on the lingering finish. A sophisticated wine ready to drink...
