96 Points 'Full golden colour, brilliant. The bouquet is honeyed and rich, with some marmalade and fruit compote nuances, nutty background. In the mouth, it has intense flavour and is very frisky with elevated acidity, which undercuts the substantial sweetness. A glorious wine of great drive and energy.' Huon Hooke, The Real Review 23/09/20 WINERY NOTE: We chose the name ‘Meta’ for our botrytised, late harvested Riesling, as it embodies the remarkable change of condition the grapes undergo as they are transformed by noble rot over the final weeks of Autumn. From healthy fruit into shrivelled but concentrated, intensely...
Vineyard: Anandale Farm Subregion: Blind River Region: Marlborough Vintage: 2023 Soil Type: Complex silt, loam and gravel Climate: Cool maritime Viticulture: Sustainable Winegrowing New Zealand Certified (SWNZ) Growers: The Turner family Appellation Marlborough Wine Certified. Organic. Winemaker's Notes: We love the precision and balance of Kabinett Riesling. Like a sensational rollercoaster, this Riesling launches with a burst of sweetness before being engulfed by vibrant acidity which delivers length and balance on the finish. It brims with flavours of...
Our Riesling grapes thrive in the Arena Block of the Viper Vineyard, located in the Parkburn region of Central Otago. This specific block is strategically planted on an exceptionally steep slope that faces north to northwest. This unique positioning grants an extended ripening period, allowing us to harvest grapes with reduced acidity and fully ripened flavours. The resulting Riesling is a fuller-bodied expression with substantial fruit weight and texture, all while maintaining its primary focus on fruit purity and structural backbone. WINEMAKERS COMMENTS Attractive floral notes of white blossom and Geranium dominate the bouquet before...
94 points! Pretty much the ‘dry’ Riesling from Dry River, with 6g/L residual sugar.Floral, spicy, subtle whiff of petrol, ripe lime and green apple. Juicy green apple and citrus flavours, gentle chalkiness to the texture, acidity that sits comfortably inside the wine, without jarring or being obtuse, then a grapefruity burst on the finish, with a pleasant pithy bitterness. High style. Wonderful to drink. Gary Walsh, Wine Front, 23 Nov 2017. WA 92 Just a hint off-dry at 4.5 grams per liter residual sugar, the 2016 Craighall Vineyard Riesling saw more time on its lees than previous vintages. At 11.5% alcohol, it's similar in...
WINERY NOTE: The pale golden colour reflectsthat of freshness and vigor. Tropical peach and kiwifruit characters reflect the warmer vintage in 2018. However, since we picked this very early-14 March, we were able to maintain the subtle fragrancies we seek out in Riesling; lime sherbet, lemon zest and apple blossom. The additional benefit of an early harvest is that we retain a strong mineral acidity, which manifests on the nose in the form of wet river rocks and citrus blossom. The palate follows a similar pattern to the nose: dense with a touch of sweetness at the entrance which makes it feel broad, with ripe fruit flavours. We often see...
Winemaker's Notes We hand picked and whole bunch pressed each block separately before vinifying as Individual lots. Fermentations were long and quite cool between 14 and 16 degrees. Judiciously selected noble Botrytis bunches were Included at between 5 and 10% of the overall fruit selection. Lots were blended together after five months on yeast lees, before estate bottling without fining. Lime blossom, peach and red apple on the nose with a long, flavoursome palate of honeydew, pink grapefruit and quince.
The Drumlin vineyard sits in the Gibbston sub-region. It is a tiny plot that produces exceptional fruit. Typically the wines that are derived give " delicate white pepper and fennel seed notes over a core of fresh pears and peach blossoms plus a touch of herbs. With a great backbone of acidity on the light to medium-bodied palate, this off-dry styled wine has plenty of earthy / stony notes complimenting the apple and pear characters, finishing long." Wine Advocate.
A more classical vintage for Central Otago with strong seasonal variations and lots of hot days cold nights. 2019 Riesling has orange/grapefruit peel at its core, a mineral pith like texture is the marker that makes this so special. Whole bunch pressed, fermentation in a mixture stainless steel barrels and tanks, wild yeasts, no temperature control and aged on gross less for 3 months. RS 6g/l Floral and citrus aromas, flavours of lemons, limes, and grapefruit characters, underpinned by mineral characters and refreshing acidity. 13 % alc, medium weight in an off dry style. The Wine Advocate – Lisa Perotti Brown Duncan Forsyth is one...
A delicious off dry style from a cooler vintage for Central Otago. Whole bunch pressed, fermentation in a mixture stainless steel barrels and tanks, wild yeasts, no temperature control and aged on gross less for 3 months. RS 10g/l Floral and citrus aromas, flavours of kaffir limes and grapefruit, some initial sweetness underpinned by herbal mineral characters and ending dry with refreshing acidity. 12 % alc, medium weight in an off dry style. The Wine Advocate - Lisa Perotti Brown Duncan Forsyth is one very inspired and skilled Riesling producer – a fanatic in fact (which is what it takes to makes truly great Riesling in NZ or anywhere...
CAMERON DOUGLAS MS "Pure, varietal, distinctive and youthful bouquet with aromas of wild flowers and fresh white peach, sweet lime-flower and mandarin, apple and honeysuckle. Beautiful on the palate with a silky lite cream texture accentuated with fine lees, contrasting acidity and a core of fruit flavours that reflect the nose. Fantastic length and finish - the perfect aperitif style. 95 Points." (2020 Vintage).. Bob Campbell MW 95 points. Concentrated, mouth-wateringly dry riesling with citrus, lime, apple blossom and oyster-shell mineral characters. A perfect balance of subtle sweetness and crisp acidity builds pleasing tension...
