Highly polished release. Selected parcels from its source vineyard in the Vale’s south-western Whites Valley district get the royal treatment, a large proportion of new French oak in play in the winery offering its typical influence in the finished wine with finessed tannins, a minerally char and toast, yet still room for its rich dark plum fruit and acidity to drive intense drinking pleasures long into the future. Exciting stuff. Price: $105.00; Rating: 96 Points; Tony Love.

From Lopresti vineyard lots 10 and 11, which are characterised by Biscay clays over limestone. 55% new French oak and 5% new American for 20 months. With its luscious sweep of fruit bound a little by a fine seam of vigorous acidity and grippy tannins - it is built to age though. Red and dark berries, plum and mocha, vanilla and clove, anise. There’s positive development ahead of this, but give it a year or so to mesh. Drink to: 2035; Price: $105.00; Alcohol: 14.5%; Rating: 95 Points; James Halliday Wine Companion.
