JH 90. WINERY NOTE: It all starts with the vineyard, paying careful attention to pruning and the health of the vines. Cool climate vineyards enable the vines to produce rich flavours and characters over a longer growing season. Our Pinots have never been shy in colour and the 2018 vintage is no exception - gorgeous crimson red with a hint of purple. Aromas of cranberry, lavender, violet and herbs. The plate is supple with soft tannins, leading to a long, lingering finish. Closure: Screw Cap Perfect with cold tea smoked duck!

Oakridge Yarra Valley Chardonnay 2023
SELECTION Selection for this Chardonnay focused on premium fruit from the cool slopes of the Upper Yarra Valley , Gladysdale (Willowlake) and Wandin East (Barkala), with a touch of estate fruit from Coldstream. VINTAGE 2023 A vintage defined by cool, wet conditions, low crops and harvesting late into autumn. The resulting wines have great depth of flavour and vibrant, balanced acidities. WINEMAKING A traditional winemaking approach was used to produce this wine – handpicking and whole bunch pressing directly to 500 litre French oak puncheons for natural fermentation followed by a 9-month maturation on lees. TASTING NOTE Pale straw and...
Oakridge Yarra Valley Pinot Noir 2023
The Oakridge 2023 Yarra Valley Pinot Noir has an immediate explosion of fruit aromas on the nose, with dark cherry, blackberry and pomegranate with elements of spice and toast adding complexity. The palate displays a lush and layered density of fruit with dark cherry and red berry flavours with plush fruit tannins woven in adding complexity. There is a soft yet bright acid line providing drive and length to wine before the classic fantail finish of a great Yarra Pinot Noir.
Opus One 2019 [JS 99]
99 Points, James Suckling, JamesSuckling.com: (James Suckling #67 Wine of 2022) "The purity of fruit is really something else here, with currants and fresh flowers, such as violets and roses. Flower stems as well. Fantastic length and structure to the wine, with tightness and focus. Wonderful fruit. Graceful. A blend of 78% cabernet sauvignon, 8% merlot, 7% petit verdot, 6% cabernet franc and 1% malbec. Try after 2028." 08/22. 97-99 Points, Lisa Perotti-Brown, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Winemaker Michael Silacci commented that usually the blends are finished in January or February after the vintage. Pecchenino Dogliani Superiore Bricco Botti 2019 DOCG [VM 92]
Vinous Media 92 points. The 2019 Dogliani Superiore Bricco Botti is powerful, dark and maybe just a bit rustic, but also nicely balanced. Black cherry game, tobacco and scorched earth add layers of dimension to this brooding powerhouse Dogliani. SOMMELIER'S DESCRIPTION The Dogliani Superiore "Bricco Botti" by Pecchenino is one of the best Dolcetto currently on the market; very fine, crisp, clean and with a great character and personality. The cellar Pecchenino is a landmark in the Langhe, a cellar that has retained its connotation family passing on his farms from generation to generation. Today we find the brothers Attilio and...

Pressing Matters Chardonnay 2023 [JH 94]
"A focused and citrusy Coal River Valley chardonnay, pale straw in the glass, that is packed with ripe lemon, grapefruit, peach and nectarine fruits with hints of soft spice, vanillin oak, crème fraîche, white flowers and stone. Plenty of tension and steely mineral focus on the palate; the wine at first coils before releasing with lemon, grapefruit and poached pear fruits sliding gracefully to the finish line." 94 points. Dave Brookes Published 07 August 2024. #FOGG
Pressing Matters Riesling R9 2022 [JH 94]
I love the 'R' designations on the Pressing Matters rieslings. From R0 for bone-dry to R139 for sweet, they are an indication of the RS in the wine. The R9, in theory, should teeter on that fulcrum between dry and off-dry, but that crystalline Tasmanian acidity tempers any sweetness and it appears dry. And totally delicious, with crisp green apple, citrus, stone, orange blossom, fennel and wildflower notes. Pristine, with velocity to burn. 94 points. Dave Brookes Published 07 August 2024 #FOGG
Produttori di Barbaresco Riserva Rio Sordo 2020 [WA 94]
"The Produttori del Barbaresco 2020 Barbaresco Riserva Rio Sordo comes from an area that is further removed from the Tanaro River and has southwestern exposures. It shows a typical profile for Nebbiolo with rich fruit, a velvety mouthfeel and textural volume that is delivered with ample blackberry, blackcurrant and spice. The character of this wine is generous and rich. There is plenty of meat on these bones. 2026-2050" WA 94 #PIRA

Rockburn "The Art" Pinot Noir 2022 [SK 97]
One of the (many) attractions to the field of Winemaking is that singular combination of art and science employed to craft each wine, every year. The Science is well defined, and the literature is continually being added to; the Art is not so easy to pin down. It is born of the individual winemaker and their Muse and exists in the heart; it finds its expression within the senses of the imbiber. This wine is the result of our Winemaker let loose to practice his Artistry on fruit from other sites within Central Otago. Created from a single vineyard site high in the Dunstan foothills this Pinot Noir speaks with great eloquence of its...
Rockburn "Twelve Barrels" Gibbston Pinot Noir 2022 [DW 95]

Dark and concentrated, the Twelve Barrels displays...
Rockburn Stolen Kiss Rose 2025 1.5 Litre Magnum [SK 95]
Sam Kim , Wine Orbit, 95 points. "Finely expressed and enticing, the bouquet presents nuances of wild strawberry, watermelon, crisp apple, and lemon peel. It's equally appealing in the mouth, delivering juicy fruit flavours with fine texture and bright acidity, finishing persistent and delectable. At its best: now to 2028." Rockburn’s beloved Stolen Kiss Rosé 2025 is back, blushing and ready to steal hearts (and glasses) for its nineteenth dazzling season. Born out of a cheeky moment in 2006 when winemaker Malcolm Rees-Francis “stole” some Pinot Noir grapes destined for Rockburn’s...

"From a Swartland vineyard co-planted to Chenin Blanc and Palamino. Matured for 12 months in acacia and oak foudres. Top notes of hay and potpourri before pear and peach. Dense fruit matched by a good line of acidity, the finish pithy. Direct and surprisingly forceful – alcohol is 13.4%" Wine Magazine #JS
Save Our Souls Pinot Noir 2024 [JH 95] [SK 96]

Soumah Equilibrio Single Vineyard Chardonnay 2019 [JH 94]
“It’s a soft chardonnay with creamy, leesy characters as the palate’s main calling card before its zestier, zippier side takes over through the finish. Mellifluous for the most past, rushed with energy thereafter. Elegant..... 94 Points” Campbell Mattinson, Halliday Wine Companion, August 2020 (2019 Vintage. WINERY NOTE: The Mendosa clone creates rich, elegant Chardonnay and we selected this for our first Equilibrio. The wine is opulent, generous and composed with good oak integration all wound together with a citrus and nectarine, creamy freshness. Soumah Hexham Vineyard Pinot Noir 2022 [JH 93]
Three clones (MV6, 115, D4V2) go into this single-vineyard blend. Matured in 20% new 500L French puncheons. A light, bright crimson. Fragrant with aromas of ripe strawberries, freshly picked cherries, a little rose petal and spice. This builds nicely on the medium-bodied palate before finishing with balanced, gently grippy yet silky tannins. Nicely done. 93 points. Philip Rich Published 27 November 2023
Standish "The Standish" Shiraz 2020 [WA 96]
Wine Advocate 96 points. The 2020 The Standish Shiraz was made with fruit from the Laycock family vineyard, in Greenock. The first vintage was 1999. This vintage saw 30% whole bunches in the ferment. It offers notes of red dirt, a bit of blood, salted heirloom tomato and satsuma plum. This is concentrated, compacted, plush, dense and muscular, with notes of ras el’hanout, allspice, torched cinnamon and salted Dutch licorice. This wine is like playing "Magic Eye." There’s a lot going on, but if you relax, a pattern emerges and the detail becomes obvious for all to see. Within the fine but plushly tannic frame, there is...
Tasmanian Vintners Thalia Sparkling Brut N.V.
65/ 35/ 2% pinot noir/ chardonnay/ meunier; 55/45% Tasman Peninsula/East Coast. TYSON STELZER, HALLIDAY WINE COMPANION 2023 "The new-entry cuvée for the Fogarty Group's Tasmanian sparkling operation is crisp, fresh and fruity, built around cool, Tasman Peninsula pinot noir. Crunchy red apples, strawberries and lemons are the theme. Clean, precise and well put together, this is a well-balanced apéritif, more about fruit than texture or complexity. It will appreciate a little bottle age to build depth." 90 points. #FOGG

Trapeze Early Gamay 2023 [JH 95]

Uccelliera Brunello di Montalcino 2019 1.5Litre Magnum [JD 97]
JEB DUNNUCK RATING: 97 JEB DUNNUCK REVIEW: A ripe red color, the 2019 Brunello Di Montalcino is expressive of its place, with warming notes of licorice, black cherries, anise, cedar, and dark soil lifting from the glass. As it opens, it becomes purer in its fruit profile, shining through beautifully. Full-bodied, with ripe tannins and a savory slanting profile, notes of espresso and mocha float across the palate, filling it with purity of fruit and lovely concentration through its long finish. It’s a fantastic Brunello with a warming richness that can stand up to hearty winter foods and will be best enjoyed over the next 15 years....
Varney Wines Grenache 2022 [JH 94]
An address ascending. Its GSM, the only one with the prerequisite rivets of savoury tannin, spice and Mediterranean aura in the country. This, its acolyte, is by far the best release of grenache here to date. Mercifully, devoid of eucalyptus. Cherry pie, pomegranate, persimmon, kirsch and a broad slake of star anise, dried thyme and lavender. Alan Varney understands the need for tannin, the pinion of compression and the inherent tension that comes with it, as much as the bulwark against fruit sweetness, something that comes a little too easy in this country. A rather fine wine at a very fair price. 94 points. Ned Goodwin MW Published 02...
