Chard Farm Closeburn Unoaked Chardonnay 2024 [JH 93]

An inviting chardonnay, unadorned by oak – just pure fruit and a vivid line. Pale straw in the glass. Clover blossom leads the way into white peach and citrus fruits with soft spice and hints of chestnut, nougat, white flowers and just a daub of honeysuckle. Lightly textured with a zing of lemon zest, fine acidity and a long draw of flavour. 93 points.

This refreshing full-bodied Chardonnay is free from the influence of oak which helps to retain the fruit's natural elegance and minerality. 

The wine undergoes fermentation in a tank to preserve its vibrant fruit characteristics. Subsequently, it matures on its yeast lees to acquire a delightful doughy complexity and softness.

WINEMAKERS COMMENTS:

Appley, lemony, nutty aromas with fresh, slightly minty, herbal undertones. A core of zesty lemon fruit drives the palate, while nutty savoury notes and salinity provide extra depth and complexity to the long and seamless flavours.
