The 2022 Château De Fonbel is more rounded and layered, with beautiful cassis and black cherry fruits intermixed with chocolaty herbs, graphite, and crushed stone. This ripe, textured, medium to full-bodied 2022 has beautiful tannins and outstanding length. I like it today, and it should have 10-12 years, if not slightly longer, of prime drinking.

This exquisite vintage is produced by the noteworthy Vauthier family, also celebrated for Château Ausone. Overseen by the meticulous winemaker Pauline Vauthier, Fonbel 2022 perfectly exemplifies the stellar reputation of its producer. Cultivated in mixed soils of sand and clay, the vines produce a distinctive blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, and the rarely seen Carmenère.
