Palate: Bright, juicy, and elegant with refined acidity and ripe flavors. Good concentration and length on the palate, excellent structure, and a well-balanced finish. Burghound 90-92 points. This 1.27-hectare vineyard (3 acres) is located at the bottom of the slope. It enjoys a soil composed mainly of clay and loams. Pottery fragments found in this vineyard show that this was a farming settlement in Gallo-Roman times. After the farm disappeared, the site remained without vines for a long time before being planted again. “Sanvignes” [vineless] then changed to “Cent-Vignes” [hundred vines] – since a plot with vines cannot be “Vineless”! These reds are remarkable for their colour and the delicacy of their aromas. In the mouth, they combine complexity with mellowness.

Awarded Gold Medal and "People's Crown" , voted by readers of Vini Buoni d'Italia. Raffaella Bissoni is a remarkable woman whom we first met in 2015. We had been told by the conoscenti that she has been leading a quiet revolution in Romagna to reinstate the region as an internationally reknowned producer of sangiovese. Given that Tuscany has long held the spotlight for all sangiovese wines we were both curious and skeptical. That was until we tried her wines. They are outstanding and represent excellent value. The winery now exports to 10 countries, with the USA being the largest taker. Bissoni's wine-making philosophy is quite plain and...

97 Points; Winestate Magazine. 74/26% cabernet sauvignon/shiraz. Fermentation in a combination of stainless steel and oak, matured for a further 6 months with minimal oak contact. Juicy, spicy and fine, this isn't the bombastic and rotund performance that I recall from years gone by – the choice of fermentation vessels surely setting its expression in stone. On the floral, shaley, bouncy side of the street. Brilliant value for money. Erin Larkin

93+ Points - Gary Walsh Wine Front "It’s just so nicely balanced and good to drink, and while it will age well and surely, it’s a delight right now. Fresh blackberry and raspberry, a little liquorice, rose and pepper, and a coverlet of cedar/umami oak. It’s a classic medium-bodied style with a little Hunter earthiness, balanced acidity, and gentle powdery tannin. It’s good from front to back. Really like this. It’s how you should make Hunter Shiraz." Inspired by the first visit of a reigning monarch to Australia in 1954, Mount Pleasant Philip Shiraz is the personification of a distinguished family history dating back more than 130...
