I love the 'R' designations on the Pressing Matters rieslings. From R0 for bone-dry to R139 for sweet, they are an indication of the RS in the wine. The R9, in theory, should teeter on that fulcrum between dry and off-dry, but that crystalline Tasmanian acidity tempers any sweetness and it appears dry. Has been selected after a blind tasting by the regulatory board of Rioja DOCa as the ROSE INSTITUCIONAL wine and it will be used in all official events throughout the year  as the best example of rose from the region. This is the fourth vintage of this wine after re-planting. Our idea has always been to make what is basically a single-vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon from this unique vineyard. It is not a true single-vineyard in that we have blended in barrel selections of the best of our other vineyards. The Cabernet has a very intense cassis aroma with unique citrus-rind notes. It has a firmer tannin structure than many of our wines, but still with the elegance for which Jonkershoek Valley wines are known. Wine Advocate 91 points. The light red 2021 Tragolargo is a pure fruit-driven and young Monastrell from a vineyard on sandy and limestone soils in the Casa Balaguer property. It was picked early to preserve acidity and fermented with one-third full clusters and the rest uncrushed. In 2021 there was a heat wave that affected the whites, but they consider it a very good year for reds. It has 13.5% alcohol and a medium body, bottled unoaked, primary, young and fleshy. 25,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in March 2022.  

Mataro was brought to Australia by James Busby in 1832 from Perpignan in the Roussillon in southern France and has shown its suitability to the Barossa Valley climate exceptionally well ever since.
