This iconic semillon is made from block LO-07 of the Lovedale Vineyard, planted on a sandy, ancient seabed in '46 by Maurice O'Shea. Like all 2018s, the wine is boldly flavoured and generous in proportion, with a pillowy mid-palate bursting with fresh pear, lime curd and a touch of smoked almond. As the wine will only expand with time, I would enjoy it now with its lovely mix of richness and freshness. 95 points. Toni Paterson Published 23 July 2024. #psem

Mount Pleasant Cellar Aged Elizabeth Semillon 2018 [RR 93]
"Quite an intense colour, and very appetising perfume, there’s shortbread, a hint of vanilla custard, melon skin, yellow apple. It’s ripe and spicy, full in flavour, feels somewhat broad and generous but with lovely detail and it glides through the palate, not being heavy at all. Texture and bitter grip come with yellow fruit skins, ginger, wild honey and crushed cumin aftertaste. " Drinks very well now but Elizabeth surprises with time too. Mount Pleasant Estate Semillon 2023 [JH 95]
The fruit is crushed to the press, settled and racked to tank for a cold ferment and lees ageing. Scented white flowers and lemony freshness with a cleansing palate. The fruit has good integrity, and the mid-palate has pleasing texture and breadth, plus soft, rounded edges. It is a harmonious, balanced drink with a beautiful limey core. Excellent value. 95 points. Toni Paterson This wine was formerly bottled under the "Elizabeth" label. That is now used for cellar aged releases.Sourced exclusively from the Lovedale vineyard, this is quintessential Hunter Valley Semillon.. #psem
Mount Pleasant Old Hill Pinot Noir 2021 [JH 95]
This wine has been handled with kid gloves: hand picked and destemmed, 10% retained as whole bunches. Held in cold soak for three days, open fermented with thrice daily plunging; eight days on skins, then matured in French puncheons for eight months. The colour is excellent, and the abundant red fruits and superfine tannins are as good as they come. A new Hunter Valley style that challenges the idea that the Hunter is too hot for pinot noir. 95 points. James Halliday Published 14 February 2023. This rare wine is produced from the original pinot noir vines brought to Australia by James Busby.in 1833.
Mount Pleasant Old Paddock & Old Hill Shiraz 2021 [JH 97]
"Separate parcels hand picked and destemmed, three-day cold soak then open fermented, 11 months' maturation in French oak (25% new). Curious labelling, as the Old Paddock and Old Hill vineyards are 500m apart and quite distinct. The French oak is more obvious than that of its siblings, but it's easily carried by the mouth-watering acidity of its red and black cherry/berry fruits." 97 points. Mount Pleasant Tempranillo Touriga 2021 [JH 90]
This is a new face, the blend proportions not stated, hand picked and co-fermented before 10 days on skins in tank then six months maturation in old puncheons. It's been very well made, a bright and juicy medium-bodied, fruit-driven wine, red fruits to the fore, ready now. 90 points. James Halliday Published 29 July 2023. Pressing Matters Pinot Noir 2022 [JH 96]
"Coal River Valley pinot noir made by Samantha Connew. A very pretty bright ruby in the glass with aromas of amaro and blossom-flecked red cherry, raspberry and wild strawberry fruits underscored with hints of spice, Peking duck, leaf litter, dried citrus rind, struck flint and earth. It smells gorgeous, and the palate follows up with smallgoods and undergrowth and mountain herb tones, finishing long with detail, sapid acidity and powdery tannins – it's a wonderful release. If you're ever down Tassie way, make sure you check out the new Pressing Matters cellar door too. It's a beauty. 96 points." Dave Brookes ...

Rene Barbier and Sara Perez "Partida del Pedrer" 2021 [WA 95] Priorat

Rocca di Frassinello Rosato 2024
Produced entirely from Sangiovese grapes, harvested in the Rocca di Frassinello vineyards. A wine with a pale pink peach petal color thanks to the brief contact of the flower must with the skins. In the glass it expresses great freshness and sapidity, characteristics that refer to the Provençal style of the best French rosés. A sip with fruity notes of peach and pomegranate. Soft, savory and elegant with a light spiciness and a long finish of fresh almonds. #FRASS

Stark-Conde Oude Nektar Cabernet 2017 [TA 97 ,5 * P]
This is the fourth vintage of this wine after re-planting. Our idea has always been to make what is basically a single-vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon from this unique vineyard. It is not a true single-vineyard in that we have blended in barrel selections of the best of our other vineyards. The Cabernet has a very intense cassis aroma with unique citrus-rind notes. It has a firmer tannin structure than many of our wines, but still with the elegance for which Jonkershoek Valley wines are known. This wine is based around the highest elevation vineyard on the estate, which at 550m is arguably one of Stellenbosch’s highest Cabernet vineyards....
Strelley Farm Estate Pinot Noir [Tasmania] 2024 [WP 94] [Double Golds - Sydney & QLD Shows]
Wine Pilot 94: "There is something rather nifty about looking at a wine, making assessments and doing the review, only then to discover that the price is way below what you would have assumed for the wine. This is very much one of those wines. Absolutely cracking value. I really did have to check twice to make sure I had it right. Pale garnet in colour, there are spices, florals, violets, cherries and cranberries all evident on the nose. A silky texture throughout, this is a most refreshing style, through to satiny tannins and an impressive persistent finish. Delicious and beautifully crafted, this will provide considerable pleasure...
Tedeschi Corasco Rosso Trevenezie IGT 2018 [Ve 91]
Veronelli 91 points. WINERY NOTE: The wine is produced with typical grapes selected in the Venetian area: Corvina comes from the morainic hills of Valpolicella, Raboso comes from Oderzo (Treviso), and Refosco is selected in the Aquileia area. This wine is produced with a traditional Veronese technique: the drying of the grapes. In reality it is a partial drying: the grapes placed in the loft for about a month lose about 8-10% of their initial weight. In this way they are enriched in sugars, increase the dry extract, the ashes and the color of the wine. Wine with good tannic structure, in balance with alcohol, which gives it roundness: the...
Ten Sisters Marlborough Single Vineyard Pinot Noir 2020
"This is a ripe yet lightweight style of Pinot. Plum, raspberry and cherry preserves dominate. An underbelly of pencil lead, dried violets and warming spices adds a layer of interest. Textural tannins are talc-like and appealing on the palate, but elevated acidity and a lack of fruit depth makes this a little thin and aggressive. Nevertheless, there's crowd appeal in this affordable bottling. Christina Pickard" - Wine Enthusiast #10Sis

Ten Sisters Sauvignon Blanc 2025 (Gold SFO International Wine Comp)
Gold Medal, San Francisco International Wine Competition, 2026. Ten Sisters Sauvignon Blanc has a delightfully fragrant bouquet with underlying citrus aromas. Single-vineyard sourcing allows the terroir its full expression and elicits a purity of flavors. The palate is bright and elegant with refined acidity and ripe flavors. It has good concentration and length, excellent structure, and a well-balanced finish. The sauvignon blanc is given extended lees contact — more than the majority of Marlborough sauvignon blancs — to create complexity and to bring out fruit flavors. Excellent on its own or with seafood, chicken, pork,...
The Foundry Grenache Blanc 2022 [Platter 5]

VINIFICATION Hand harvested and cooled overnight, this was whole-bunch pressed to restrain phenolics, yet was fermented with a high percentage of solids to give breadth and definition to the palate. 55% was fermented in seasoned tight-grain French oak Allier and Compiègne hogsheads, and 45% of the wine in 500- and 1000-litre terracotta clay doliums preserving the crystalline purity...
The Foundry Syrah 2021
VITICULTURE This is the first vintage from our own vineyards in the Voor Paardeberg, planted in 2000. The vineyards are planted on low vigour, well-drained, granitic origin soils. The vines are managed to retain a healthy balance between grape production and growth, and the crop was reduced to 5.5 tons per hectare. The mature vines are naturally low yielding, and all damaged or unripe grapes were removed before harvest. The fruit was uniformly ripe and was picked on the basis of analysis, taste and vine physiology. VINIFICATION The grapes were partially de-stemmed with approximately 40% remaining as whole bunches directly into custom-made...
Tragolargo Monastrell 2021 [WA 91]
Wine Advocate 91 points. The light red 2021 Tragolargo is a pure fruit-driven and young Monastrell from a vineyard on sandy and limestone soils in the Casa Balaguer property. It was picked early to preserve acidity and fermented with one-third full clusters and the rest uncrushed. In 2021 there was a heat wave that affected the whites, but they consider it a very good year for reds. It has 13.5% alcohol and a medium body, bottled unoaked, primary, young and fleshy. 25,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in March 2022.
Turkey Flat Barossa Valley Mataro 2021 [RR, WF 95]
Mataro was brought to Australia by James Busby in 1832 from Perpignan in the Roussillon in southern France and has shown its suitability to the Barossa Valley climate exceptionally well ever since. The broad appeal to Mataro lies in its earthy ruggedness and ability to show finesse and structure. While often used as a blending component, at Turkey Flat we feel Mataro deserves to star in its own right as a single varietal. The Real Review: "Ink black core with a deep purple rim. Deep and dark aromas of plum, blood and tar tell a story that resonates on the intense and weighty palate. Cola spices fill in as it builds long, caressed...
Turkey Flat Butcher's Block Red 2023
Each varietal is vinified & aged individually in French oak barrels before the final blending process. Shiraz adds the generous mouthfeel, Grenache the spice and cherry-like sweetness and Mataro the backbone, savoury edge and fragrance. Balance is crucial, each varietal’s contribution is evident, yet nothing competes for your attention. A medium-bodied palate with red and black berries. Layers of spice, dark plum, cassis and berry fruit adorn the palate - pleasantly held together by fine tannins. Smooth & delicious.
Turkey Flat Butcher's Block Shiraz 2023
Source blocks were selected for spice and lift, representing a fresher and more layered version of ‘Barossa Valley shiraz’. 15% whole bunch used to increase spice and structure, with 100% old oak allowing fruit to take the fore. A medium-bodied palate with juicy dark berry fruits, blueberries, violets, graphite and flint, held together with fine, supple tannins. Smooth & delicious. Drink now!
