Reviews & Accolades Gold Medal - National Wine Awards of Aotearoa NZ (Oct '22) Sam Kim, Wine Orbit - 5 Stars (96/100) It's beautifully perfumed on the nose showing dark plum, violet, thyme, clove and toasted nut characters, leading to a succulent palate that's plump and flavoursome. Superbly framed by loads of polished tannins, making it structured and persistent. From the Parkburn Vineyard. At its best: 2024 to 2036. $99.00. www.rockburn.co.nz. Sept 2022. Raymond Chan Wine Reviews - 5 Stars, 19/20 pts (95 pts) Deep, ruby-red, lighter on the rim. This has a full, broody, dark-sweet-fruited bouquet penetrating aromas of dark cherry and plum melded with cinnamon, nutmeg and herb. Medium-full bodied, aromas of dark cherry, plum and a suggestion of blueberry have a sweet core, entwined with thyme, black pepper and sweet spice. The fruit shows concentration and a dark, broody tone, enriched by thyme and oak spice. Finely extracted tannins structure and leave a velvety grip; lively, lacy acidity provide vitality and balance. This youthful Pinot Noir is broody, complex with black fruit, lifted spice and a fine structure. Match with roasted lamb and duck over the next 8-10 years. Fruit from Parkburn,Abel clone, cold soaked 8 days in 7-tonne fermenter, fermented over one week with daily plunging, post ferment maceration for 10 days, then aged 14 months in French oak, 22% new oak. 19/20 pts (95 pts) Sep 2022 RRP $99 Bob Campbell (Real Review) 5 Stars (95/100) Moderately intense pinot noir with ripe Black Doris plum, cassis, black berry, smoky oak, and five-spice flavours supported by sweet, ripe tannins that promise ageing potential. Cameron Douglas MS - 5 Stars (96/100) An excellent bouquet with a core of ripe red fruits from raspberry and red cherry to the forrest and farmers market. There’s also plenty of smoky wood scenst with spices of cinnamon, nutmeg and clove. On the palate the wine is taut and youthful with tannins and acidity driving the texture then wood spices and a core of ripe fruits and a light savoury dried herb quality. A wine that simply needs more time to bring together all the attributes and meld. Length finsih, well made and ready to drink from late 2024 through 2032+.
