This new project from the granite soils in the northern end of the Macedon Ranges at 460m above sea level is an exciting addition to our activities. The vineyard was established in 1995 and the fruit has ostensibly been “lost” interstate until new Victorian owners took over in spring 2021. The new regime has quickly invested in the infrastructure and fine-tuned activities and several top producers are sourcing fruit from this excellent site. The Riesling was harvested in mid April and wild yeast fermented in old French oak then matured for six months on fine yeast lees. In the winemaking mind it was important to preserve/respect...

Bright and expressive, with aromas of lemon blossoms, kaffir limes, green apples and crushed slate. The palate is finely etched and vibrant, showing zesty acidity layered with citrus, white peach and mineral flavors. Persistent and tightly wound, with excellent clarity and length. Campbell Mattinson - The Wine Front, AUG23 96 Points Well, seriously, the 2023 Grosset rieslings are wonderful. This has you at hello. It’s structured and a touch reserved but there’s decent flavour both at the outset and throughout and then the finish, well, it saves its best for last. This wine really does seal the deal. Chalk, lime, fennel, a grainy/skinsy aspect to the finish but this is a wine of great fruit purity, finesse and finish. It’s delicious. It impresses with its structure. And it has that extra flourish. Mike Bennie - Halliday Wine Companion, SEP23 96 Points A flavoursome release of this stalwart Clare...

Wine Advocate 91 points. 2022 was an excellent follow on from the excellent 2021 vintage. This 2022 Killerman's Run Riesling is spritely, inchoate and so tightly coiled at this point that the acidity and the phenolics are seamlessly intertwined. Really great value here—pristine Riesling. Fermented in a 10-degree room over three weeks before being transferred to a one-degree room, where the ferment was left to stop naturally. 17g/L of RS. A bright green gold. Unlike the '24 early on, this leaps out of the glass with its aromas of stone fruit, makrut lime, gardenia and spice. Almost comes across as dry, such is the balance of the fruit, RS and acidity. Finishes chalky and long. Excellent. 96 points. Philip Rich Published 02 December 2025

O'Leary Walker Wines was established in 2000 by winemakers David O'Leary and Nick Walker. With over twenty five years experience and established reputations making premium wine with the big companies, these two long time friends decided to take control of their own destiny and craft small batches of wine from some of the best vineyard sites in South Australia. With a great leap of faith they are now doing exactly what they set out to. "The 20th vintage and what a cracker it was in Clare. This is distinctly finer and more delicate than the Watervale wine from this vintage. It really reflects this outstanding area. Has a...

Jeni Port 96 points. A natural cool beauty, Watervale combines stunning aromatics – apple blossom, white flowers – with lingering aromas of Tahitian lime, lemon, grapefruit. Citrus and talc florals work hand in hand here. Soft, textural acidity offers a solid foundation for the brisk lemony brightness and lime cordial intensity of the fruit. And it lasts and lasts on a long, clean finish. Guess you might say I fell hard for this young riesling. A classic riesling vintage in the Clare Valley is a thing to behold. Excellent drinking now, it will be a pleasure to follow its journey. Date Tasted: October 2021; Drink: 2021 to...

James Halliday Wine Companion 96 points. Cane-cut Coal River riesling weighing in at around 136g/L RS. Straw in the glass with characters of apple, lime, peach, candied citrus rind, clover and orange blossom, apple pie, crushed riverstone and crème brûlée. Once again that beautiful acidity struts its stuff, drawing all the rich flavours into relief and applying tension and velocity in the process, finishing long and unctuous. Superb. 96 points.
