Reinforces the truth that newly born riesling of high quality can speak as an adult, the grainy acidity of the palate one mode of communication, the depth of the citrus fruit another, filling in the gaps where needed. But none of this is intended to suggest there is any premature ageing - there is none, and the wine has a sure 15-year future etched in stone. Drink by 2032. 95 points James Halliday – Australian Wine Companion.

James Halliday 96 points. 94 points, Nick Stock for James Suckling.com. This is another extraordinary and very rare riesling from this remarkable producer. Only 111 dozen made. Bright pale straw with green hues. Lifted aromas of citrus zest, grapefruit, subtle yellow fruits, and wet stones. The palate is racy and textured from the extended contact on lees with serious intensity. Only 111 doz. Hand-picked and sorted. Several picks ensure optimal ripeness across Block 2, however only the best parcels made this wine. The grapes are whole bunch pressed then chilled and settled. Juice racked to stainless for fermentation with higher solids. These...

Erin Larkin, Erinlarkin.com.au, August 2020. 98 points. Spring blossom, key lime, pink lady apple, lantana, cilantro, leafy herbs, hint of freesia and lavender. There is eucalypt, dew, talcum and what… juniper? The palate is concentrated and intense, super fine, plush and if it had a colour it would be arctic white such is the purity and crystalline expression of this wine. The touch of sweetness in there does nothing but make this more balanced, charming and beautiful. There is tension, and taut acidity… all things balanced and teetering. Fresh and bright. Structured. It plunges deep and then it goes long. Brilliant wine. 98/100 points....

"A light, bright yellow hue sets the stage for the reserved, discreet, subtly yeasty young-wine aromas, which are bright and clean, and scented with dried flowers. It’s very intense in the mouth, concentrated and driving, the juicy fruit of the fore-palate morphing into a firm, dry back-palate with a long tail. An excellent riesling of superior fruit intensity and persistence, and great cellaring potential. (Screwcap)" James Halliday "There’s an initial shyness on the nose, not surprising given the history of Grosset Polish Hill; and more restrained than some recent releases. This initial restraint gives way to a slowly evolving, yet...

A swirl of the glass will unleash the potent aromas of this very different vintage of Grosset Springvale Riesling. It’s so dramatically perfumed that it’s almost overwhelming: the aromatics themselves are not so surprising – lovely florals, lemongrass, lime juice. But the sheer intensity is atypical. That’s how the lowest yielding harvest in decades reveals itself. On the palate, too, the lime and lemon flavours are concentrated, powerful and weighty with impressive length on a fine, mouth-puckering finish featuring crisp, cleansing acidity that lingers. While it’s immediately appealing, there’s no question that this is...

Awards: Langton Classification VII: Rated ‘Excellent’ Wine Ark: One of Australia’s ‘Ten Most Collected White Wines’ Reviews: Tyson Stelzer, WBM, November/December 2020 Jeff Grosset describes the volume of his 40th vintage as ‘woeful’, with drought inflicting his lowest yields in three decades. To achieve his signature pinpoint accuracy under such circumstances is monumental indeed. All the fragrant apple blossom, fresh lemon and crunchy granny smith apple that we love of Springvale are here in full measure, impeccably energised by focussed acidity. 93 points. James Halliday 93 points. "A fine free-flowing riesling oozing orange blossom, lime cordial, lemon drop, quince and apricot pith. No hard edges from overly zealous tweaking in the winery, either. A lovely drink framed by a maritime salinity and juicy acidity." Ned Goodwin Published 01 August 2019 COLOUR Crisp fresh straw. NOSE Vibrant aromas of orange blossom and lemon zest and floral tones. PALATE Vibrant flavours of citrus and rose petal on the palate leading to a crisp lemon finish. The mouth feel is balanced between natural acidity and the fruit weight.
