James Suckling 94 points. Wine Front 93 points. Beautifully fresh and fragrant wine with intense lime juice and a fine, minerally spark. This has terrific detail on the palate and is really intense and flinty. Elegant with power. Drink now. Screw cap. 94 pts JS. Riesling fanciers should have Clonakilla’s on their radars already, but for the uninitiated this is a great introduction from 2016 – mineral-charged, tangy, succulent. It’s a very consistent wine, I reckon. Perhaps a slightly more zesty year in acid, is the only quiet shift. Good for refreshment factor.Pretty as. Fresh, flirty. Effortless drinking here, with a high quality...
James Halliday 97 points. Produced from mature vines in a region originally selected for this variety, Forest Hill's Block 1 Riesling has gained world-wide recognition and support. The grapes from Block 1 result in wines of outstanding varietal flavours, true to Mount Barker. Fermented with wild yeasts to add palate richness and complexity while softening the vibrant, crisp natural acidity, the Forest Hill Rieslings are enhanced by a long, lingering, often flinty finish, ensuring wonderful graceful ageing.
James Halliday 95 points. "Mainly from Block 2 (planted '75), plus a smaller amount from younger estate blocks. Picked and sorted by hand, mostly whole-bunch pressed, a small portion crushed and destemmed before pressing. This is very good, with riesling flaunting its varietal wares. Block 1 needs at least a decade to release its treasures, but here they're ready to start now."
Most would consider that Grosset Polish Hill is always produced from low yielding vines, so what happens when the Clare Valley’s lack of winter rain results in the ‘lowest yielding vintage for decades’.? Something special. There are subtle yet distinct floral aromatics of violets and lavender, lemon and lime blossom perfumes that persist. This is different from the restraint and shyness of most ‘Polish Hill’ Riesling on release – and worth celebrating because of it. The intense, lime juice flavours and fine linear structure is more dramatic, more overtly tight than most of these wines. It is powerful, multi-layered, richly...
~ Buy Six and Pay $46 each~ Grosset Springvale Riesling 2017 Awards: Langton Classification VI: Rated ‘Outstanding’ Wine Ark: one of Australia’s ‘Five Most Collected White Wines’ Reviews: Toni Paterson, The Real Review, 6th October 2017 Exquisite, pure citrus aromas. The palate is wildly intense with perfectly integrated acidity and palate softness. There is a pleasing tang at the front, followed by a focused, gently textural, sweet-lemon middle. The mineral core running through the wine is simply captivating. Magic. 96 Points.
James Halliday 95 points. Like all Kilikanoon's Rieslings, no frills to the vinification, just attention to detail. Incongruously, it is a blend of three vineyards. The bouquet owes as much to minerally notes as to citrus fruit, and the palate duly brings structure and length for the lemon/lime flavours and firm finish. JH. WINERY NOTES: Winemaking Made as a blend of three higher altitude Watervale sites, all fruit was hand picked and sorted with only free run juice used for the final cuvee. Appearance Pale straw in appearance with brilliant clarity and youthful green tints. Nose Lifted floral notes and intense citrus flavours are a...
95 Points 1940s vines. Textural, powerful, persistent. Lime juice and crystals, talc and spice, mineral. A hint of orange blossom. A trace of fruit sweetness. It’s pretty and it’s purposeful and it feels soft as it extends along your tongue. A treat of a wine. Halliday Wine Companion.
James Halliday 95 points. A top class riesling at an extrarodinarily reasonable price. COLOUR Pale straw with steely green tinges BOUQUET Delicately perfumed with a hint of musk and bath salts. PALATE Textured with orange rind, lemon, lime and spice. Delicate with crisp natural acidity and balanced finish. FOOD MATCH A perfect accompaniment to oysters natural. CELLARING POTENTIAL This wine is ready to drink now as a young, vibrant Riesling. You will be rewarded by careful cellaring for decades to come.
James Halliday 93 points. "A fine free-flowing riesling oozing orange blossom, lime cordial, lemon drop, quince and apricot pith. No hard edges from overly zealous tweaking in the winery, either. A lovely drink framed by a maritime salinity and juicy acidity." Ned Goodwin Published 01 August 2019 COLOUR Crisp fresh straw. NOSE Vibrant aromas of orange blossom and lemon zest and floral tones. PALATE Vibrant flavours of citrus and rose petal on the palate leading to a crisp lemon finish. The mouth feel is balanced between natural acidity and the fruit weight.
