Only few Chardonnays in Spain can aged for long time as reserva and stay fresh, balanced and elegant. Thanks to our location at Monjardín Valley, we are able to make this style of wines. La Rellanada Vineyard Located just infront of the winery, planted in 1988 it has always grown very high quality grapes. At an altitude of 650 m, we harvest in October, when grapes are golden colour. Viura vineyard from the Monjardin Valley area. Fine loamy or silty soil textures on alternating tertiary continental marls and sandstones. Altitude - 650 meters Age - more than 36 years. Fermentation in steel tanks and work on first lees with periodic batonage for 6 months. The Pesseroles Brisat is a striking orange, cloudy wine with plenty of character. It's a white wine with skin contact (also called orange wine), made from a blend of 42% Garnatxa Blanca, 35% Picapoll, and 23% Pedro Ximenes. All the grapes were harvested simultaneously, with whole bunches fermented for several weeks. The nose is distinct and clearly influenced by contact with the skins, with aromas of peach, quince, beeswax, pollen, and an earthy note. When Rene Barbier Jr. (Clos Mogador) and his wife Sara Perez (Venus Universal and Mas Martinet) brought the abandoned, very old "coster" (steeply sloping traditional Priorat vineyard) back into production, they thought they had purchased a plot of Carinyena (Carignan)... but to their great surprise, they discovered that 40% of the plot consisted of Garnatxa Peluda (indigenous Grenache). Wine Advocate 94 points. The 2023 Dido Blanc had less skin contact, to try to counterbalance the ripeness of the year, something they started in 2022. It's a year with a more generous expression, but there's purity in the wines. They achieved good balance, a very clean nose and a medium-bodied palate with 13.5% alcohol. There's a little more Macabeo, 55%, with 30% Garnacha Blanca and 15% Xarel.lo, mostly from direct pressing. It fermented in foudre and spent a longer time in concrete, around eight months.
