Albert Morot Savigny 1er Cry Clos de la Batalliere 2023

Having belonged to a certain Mr. Bataille, this vineyard is adjacent to the old road from Beaune to Vergy, which explains the name Vergelesses (or Vergelosses in the year 830).

Clos de la Bataillère was already highly regarded in the 19th century. In 1855, Jules Lavalle, naturalist, botanist, and pioneer of the classification of Burgundy's climats, noted that La Bataillère was among the most highly regarded climats, described as a "top-of-the-range" vineyard.

At 1.87 hectares, the estate's largest plot benefits from an ideal south/southeast exposure. While 1.30 hectares are planted primarily with Chardonnay, the northern part of the vineyard retains 0.5 hectares of old Pinot Noir vines, a testament to the historical heritage of this unique site.

The soil is mainly composed of limestone and sand.
This red wine is characterized by delicate aromas and great finesse. It will go perfectly with grilled pigeon, dishes made with mushrooms or bacon.
