"Single-vineyard pinot noir from Alexandria, matured for 11 months in 25% new French oak. Deep ruby with aromas of wild strawberry, macerated raspberry and red plum fruits with hints of medina spice, charcuterie, turned earth, nutmeg, judicious spicy oak, wildflowers and some distant crushed herbs and minerals. Juicy and fruit pure with fine powdered gravel tannins, an effortless sense of drinkability and a long arc of flavour. 94 points."

The 2024 Wild Irishman Alexandra Single Vineyard Pinot Noir captures the clarity and precision that define this subregion. It opens with a rush of sweet red fruits, raspberry and rhubarb layered over vanilla and soft custard notes. There’s an aromatic generosity here, lifted by a gentle hint of eucalypt and sweet oak, making the wine feel open and expressive from the first pour.
On the palate, it’s broad and juicy, with vibrant fruit carrying through seamlessly. The tannins are finely shaped, giving just the right amount of grip, while the acidity remains fresh and balanced. What sets this wine apart is its mineral edge, a flinty tautness that builds towards the finish. It’s a hallmark of Alexandra, where schist and sandy gravel soils lend both structure and a savoury, stony quality that underpins the fruit.
This release shows real presence and progression. It’s immediately drinkable, yet holds a quiet depth that promises to reward time in the bottle. A confident, site-driven Pinot that reflects the precision of both vineyard and vintage.
