Four days on skins and pressed to 35% new French cigar-shaped barrels. A straw gold with green tinges. With its scents of orange and lemon pith, blackcurrant, curry leaves and fennel seeds, this is not your average sauvignon blanc. Just as good on the textured, saline palate, which closes with a touch of grip from the skin-contact derived phenolics that give the wine structure and length. 100% sauvignon blanc planted in 1988. One day on skins and barrel fermented and matured in 30% new Austrian hogsheads. A bright and deep-ish green gold. A complex amalgam of ripe stone fruits, greengage, mountain herbs and a little flint, even. Textured and balanced, finishing pithy and long. Excellent.  96 points. Philip Rich Published 23 April 2024
