Our Top Selling Shiraz Under $40 90 Points - Natalie McLean. “Great value on this big (15% abv) and robust Shiraz from the Barossa Valley. Deep ruby in the glass, with oodles of dark raspberry and blackberry aromas, spicy and rich with crushed raspberry, blackberry, dark chocolate, black pepper spice, anise and cedar spice flavours layered and lush on the palate. Pair with barbequed ribs. Shiraz food pairings: hamburgers, espresso and cocoa-rubbed flank steak, black bean soup, cheese.” Winemaker Notes Rich, dense and intense with a mulberry to ink like hue. A subtle and sophisticated nose, leads to a powerful palate of ripe black cherries, the darkest and richest chocolate integrated with ripe dark juicy plum flesh, traces of freshly ground coffee beans with hints of black olive, peat and anise seed. Textual, well-balanced with mildly smooth tannins leading to a powerful but harmonious finish. Great Australian wine begins in the vineyard and since 1971 it’s the dedication to the science and technology advances of modern Australian viticulture that has seen the Hickinbotham family vineyards become renowned quality, cost efficient grape growers for some of the industry’s leading winemakers. The natural evolution for the family was to establish their own wine labels. In 2004, the 3 Rings label was established to showcase Shiraz and the Barossa Valley.
