Supple and appealing wine with an ethereal texture. It’s deliciously drinkable now but should age gracefully. A classy pinot noir. (Screwcap). Gourmet Traveller WINE Magazine Top 100, October 2018 95 POINTS: From an organically-farmed, three hectare vineyard in a Bannockburn site that’s cooler than most in that subregion. Delicately scented with red rose, dark cherry, plum and thyme flavours. Supple and appealing wine with an ethereal texture. "Exquisitely composed and...
Raymond Chan 19+/20. Clones 777 and 115 from the ‘Glenlee’ site, close-planted at 6,000 vines per ha, hand-picked and indigenous yeast fermented with 23% whole clusters to 13.5% alc., the wine aged 10 months in 30% new oak. Even, dark ruby-red colour with youthful purple hues, lighter on rim. This has a very full, voluminous nose with ethereal layers of ripe dark red berry and plum fruits intermixed with complexing savoury dried herb, earth, undergrowth and game notes and whole bunch stalk and stem nuances. The aromatics build in depth and concentration, showing black floral and mineral detail with time in the glass. Medium-full bodied,...
Raymond Chan 19/20. Darkish ruby-red colour with slight purple hues, lighter on the rim. The nose is soft and initially a little restrained in expression, but growing to show good depth and presence with a core of ripe, dark-red berry and cherry fruit with some raspberry liqueur notes, dark herbs and dark-red florals unfolding a hint of minerals. Medium-full bodied, the palate is rich and vibrant with sweet and spicy flavours of dark-red berry fruits that fill the mouth. The fruit has notes of dark-red plums and liquorice, entwined with florals and mineral elements, forming a deep, well-packed, ripe, rounded heart. The tannin are ripe and...
Mike Bennie, Wine Front 94 points. "A blend of three vineyards across Central Otago’s sub-region resources. All from certified organic farming. Mishmash of clones. Mishmashed brains at Mount Edward, which is a good thing for creative winemaking. No doctrine, unless the doctrine is to have no doctrine. Moody fog of dark cherry, warm spice, faint leather, choc-cherry, briar. Palate is soft in texture with an easy spread of flavour, warming, yet also faintly grippy with sheets of tannin and cool acidity. It’s wild-edged and expressive, you feel that unfiltered feel, texture, complexity, interest are the calling cards. Very good. Mike Bennie...
Wine Front 93 points. The vineyard (planted on original rootstock in 2001) is located in the heart of the Western District Farming country, approximately 150 kilometers south-west of Melbourne. The soils across the slope of the site are a mixture of grey sandy clay loams at the south end to dark brown loams with fragments of buckshot and quartz gravels towards the north. All with underlying brown to yellow clays. Overall the soils remain very moist throughout the year because of the clay based soil profile and annual rainfall of 885mm, resulting in the very attractive damp earthiness character in the fruit and wine. Nick Farr has been taking...
Normally one has to hock a kidney to buy Bindi - -but this entry level label makes it almost a Tuesday night night impulse choice. Styling with the very best of the blue-bloods, this wine is majestic, glowing and glorious. Wine Front 95 points. The classic Bindi Pinot signature of perfume and red fruits is immediately evident here. There are also some darker fruit notes and spice aromas giving added complexity. The balance of roses, red and dark cherry, raspberry youthfulness with more earthy and savoury complexities is very pleasing at this early stage. The palate is fleshy, supple and silky with fine tannins and balanced acidity carrying...
ACCOLADES Cameron Douglas MS 93pts Wine Orbit 93 pts 5 stars Raymond Chan 5 stars Peter Saunders 5 Stars Sydney International Wine Competition 2017 (AUS) –Blue Gold. TASTING NOTES: The 2013 Pinot Noir is the perfect example of Drumsara Wines’ Terroir, expressing dark and wild fruits of the forest; cherry, plum and strawberry, with an underlying hint of spices. The palate abounds in deep fruits, supplemented by vanilla beans and cocoa. The fine grained tanins and lively acidity give the wine great length and aging potential. Enjoy now thru 2020. . "Intense concentration and brightness to eclipse the sun. Gorgeous structure and classic form. Plenty of time to run and for me - more enjoyable right now than its bomb-diggity younger brother from 2013."RR4WEA #Dryriver
