Schubert Estate "The Gosling" Shiraz 2017 [SK 95]

The Gosling Shiraz is sourced from several blocks within our Estate vineyards located at Neldner Road and Roennfeldt Road in the Marananga sub region on the western side of the central Barossa Valley. The Shiraz fruit is hand-picked, destemmed and fermented in 5 tonne open top fermenters with twice daily pump-overs to achieve maximum extraction of colour, flavour and tannin. At the completion of fermentation, the wine is drained and basket pressed to seasoned French oak barriques for 18 months before final blending and bottling.

Deep violets with ruby at the rim appear in the glass. Intense aromas of blackberry, dark plum and liquorice fill the glass, layered with subtle hints of clove, nutmeg, cinnamon and dark chocolate. The rich palate is bursting with, textured flavours of blackcurrant, boysenberry, black olive tapenade, and plum sauce complimented with savoury notes of black pepper, and cured meats. A fine acid line and dusty cedar oak tannins give focus and structure.

A wine that will reward patient cellaring for a decade or more.
